We had an excellent experience working with SJC Lawler Architects throughout our project. We had engaged them for 2 of our projects - one for a house extension and another one for a new build. From the very beginning, Mark, Stephen, and Amy were professional, organised, and genuinely committed to delivering a high-quality outcome. The entire process felt smooth and well-coordinated. Planning was thoughtfully executed, timelines were clearly communicated, and every stage progressed in a structured and efficient manner. What really stood out was their patience and responsiveness — no question was too small, and every query was addressed promptly and thoroughly. Their ability to guide us through complex decisions with clarity and calm professionalism made a significant difference. We always felt supported and confident that we were in capable hands. I would highly recommend SJC Lawler Architects to anyone looking for a team that combines expertise, attention to detail, and exceptional client care.

We engaged Stephen Coon of SJC Lawler Architects for a substantial residential extension, including a large-scale entertaining deck with integrated alfresco kitchen and an opening louvre roof system, and were extremely impressed with the outcome. From concept design through to detailed documentation, their work demonstrated a high level of technical competence and architectural rigour. The construction drawings were thorough, precise, and builder-friendly, which significantly reduced ambiguity during construction and supported an efficient build process. Council requirements, compliance matters, tender coordination and billing services were handled professionally and proactively. SJC Lawler Architects provided clear communication, sound technical advice, and well-reasoned design solutions throughout the project. We would confidently recommend them to anyone. Thank you Stephen, Amy and team.

Unfortunately house was lost in the Koolewong disaster. Spoke with Kate and unlike some other builders who don’t have time of day was breath of fresh air. Very positive . Thanks for your help SJC & Kate through this difficult period!

I engaged Mark Lawler of Mark Lawler Architects for the design and construction of a residential home on a sloping elevated site in suburban Newcastle. Mark was responsible for the Design,Regulatory Approval and Oversight of the Construction Contract Administration phases. Marks experience, knowledge and capability were extremely valuable for a client who wished to leverage experience, qualification and expertise. Mark was exceptionally well supported by an excellent team. Thank you to the entire team. Regards, Terry

We are delighted with our now completed home renovations. Stephen Coon was at all times courteous, helpful and available to answer our questions. His attention to detail at every stage from the concept designs, the planning stages, materials and selection of the builder were beneficial in assisting us with decision making and a great outcome. We can highly recommend MLA. Steven and Lesley.

Mark Lawler Architects have been exceptional to work with. Having used them on two separate projects, I can confidently say their attention to detail, reliability, and professionalism are second to none. They consistently provide well-thought-out designs and are always prompt in getting things back to me. Compared to other consultants I’ve worked with, Mark and his team have been among the most dependable and easy to communicate with. The outcome of my most recent home exceeded expectations, and I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again in the future.

I recently had the pleasure of collaborating with Mark Lawler Architects on a large custom home. Their professionalism and design expertise truly set them apart in the industry. From our very first meeting the team at MLA demonstrated a strong commitment to collaboration. They actively listened to both my ideas and the client's vision, ensuring that everyone was on the same page. This open line of communication made the entire process smooth and enjoyable. The design concepts brought forth by Mark and the team were not only aesthetically stunning but also highly functional. They struck a perfect balance between modern elegance and practical living spaces, making it easy for us to translate their vision into reality. Their attention to detail was evident in every aspect, from layout to material selection. Throughout the project the MLA team maintained a high level of professionalism. They were always available for consultations and provided timely feedback, which helped us stay aligned with the overall vision. Their respect for the construction process and understanding of on-site realities made working together a pleasure. The finished home is a testament to the team at MLA's skill and creativity. The client is thrilled with the results, and it has been rewarding to see how well the design translates into a beautiful living space. Stephen Coon from MLA designed & managed the construction of our new family home which was completed in 2022. It was a long journey to plan & build a new house but with the support of Stephen & the MLA team, we now have a beautiful light-filled, very comfortable, modern family home. The end result is fantastic and we’re extremely happy. Stephen was easy to deal with, made great suggestions, and listened to our needs.

I would like to highly recommend MLA to anyone looking for a professional service from a down to earth team. I have worked on projects designed by Mark, and Stephen for many years and have always been impressed how they really look after their clients behind the scenes. Ready all the glowing reviews from happy clients is pleasing, but what they don't know is how dedicated and hard working the team at MLA are behind the scenes. Keep up the great work guys.
